Quickstart guide
Your Macquarie Prime Facility has two key aspects: the Online Portal and the Trading Platform.
1. Online Portal
The Macquarie Prime Online Portal covers all non-trading aspects of your account, such as viewing your portfolio, accessing current and past statements, transferring funds into and out of your account, and amending your user preferences.
Logging in to the Online Portal

You can log in from any computer with internet access at macquarie.com.au/login, or from the overview page of the website by clicking the Login to Macquarie Prime button.
-
Enter your MAC (eight digit Macquarie Access Code)
If you forget your MAC, please call the Macquarie Prime Client Service Team on 1800 187 434. We take your security and privacy very seriously, and will ask you several questions to identify you using information provided during the application process prior to providing you with your MAC.
-
Enter your password
If you forget your password, you can reset it online by clicking Click here to reset your password on the login page.
-
Select the Macquarie Prime: Log in button to go through to the Macquarie Prime Online Portal.
-
Review the welcome screen: information here includes your last login date and time, and any important messages.
-
Select Continue to enter the Online Portal.
If you're accessing your Macquarie Prime account from a shared computer, please ensure you protect your account by logging off after use. As an additional security measure, you will be automatically logged out after 20 minutes of inactivity.
For a guide to the other tools and information available on the Macquarie Prime Online Portal, visit the Macquarie Prime help site at any time at macquarie.com.au/primehelp.
2. Trading Platform
The Macquarie Trading Platform shows your trading positions, ASX prices in real time, allows you to set up advanced charts and alerts, and enables you to place trades.
Entering the Trading Platform
When entering the Trading Platform, you may see a Java security message. If you do:
-
Select Always trust content from this publisher
-
Click Run
An internet browser window will then appear – this window must remain open whilst you’re accessing the Trading Platform, although you can minimise it for convenience.
The Trading Platform will then appear. You can personalise the layout to suit your trading style.
Below is an example configuration, however there are a variety of additional panels you can incorporate into your layout, including alerts, news and any number of charts.

Understand my Statement
If you have open positions, it is normal to see differences between cash balances in the Macquarie Prime Online Portal and the Trading Platform when the market is open. This is because the Trading Platform is updated in real time, but the Macquarie Prime Online Portal is only updated once at the end of each trading day.
-
What does MTM mean on my statement?

Understand the Risk Limit Summary
Total Limit
This is the Utilised Limit plus Available Limit.
Available Limit
This is the amount of the Risk Limit that is not being utilised within your Prime Facility. This will equal your Total Limit less Utilised Limit.
Utilised Limit
This is the amount the amount of Risk Limit you are using within your Prime Facility.
Monitor my positions - The Red Arrow
A red arrow next to your positions means that you have opened positions in that stock at different price levels.
If you have a GSL over this share, you will see a tick in the relevant column. In order to view further details of your positions, simply double click on that position.
Review my Trade History
You can find a history of all your Trading Platform activities for the past month on the Trading Log, which can be found in the toolbar under Trading > Trading Log.
Avoid a margin breach
It is up to the individual investor to ensure that they have sufficient margin against their positions. An easy way to keep an eye on this is to ensure your Available Funds is greater than zero. If your Available Funds falls below zero, you are in margin call.
Ways to avoid your account going into margin breach include:
-
Depositing funds
If you have a loan in your Facility, any additional funds you deposit will offset the loan and reduce the risk of a collateral breach.
-
GSLs
Using a GSL can significantly reduce the incidence of a collateral breach due to movement of a stock.
